New ‘View For City of Fallen Angels! 5/5!

City of Fallen Angels City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4)

(5/5) Overall (Big shocker there… not 😉 )

Vivi’s ‘View

As I sit here, shellshocked, with my laptop perched between my knees I can only wonder what to put in this review. I feel entitled to say that the Twilight Saga pales in comparison to The Mortal Instruments, and that is I speaking as a die-hard Twi-hard. 😉 It took a couple chapters to refresh my memory, as it has been at least a year since I read City of Glass, but once I got my bearings I was hooked. I have heard so much hype about this book that I felt as if the characters were celebrities for the first few chapters… LOL! (It happens sometimes.)

City of Fallen Angels was action packed and addicting. I got multiple paper cuts from turning its pages too fast. There isn’t a lot I can say about this book, it lived up to my expectations, and then some. This is truly one of the YA series’ out there that I enjoy the most. Contrary to what I stated above, it took me a long time to finish this book. This was most likely because I’ve been up-to-the-wall busy for the past week, and away all last weekend, so hopefully my lateness is excusable. I did feel that CoFA was slightly more predictable than its siblings, CoB, CoA, & CoG, however not predictable enough to knock it down to a 4.5. I have promised myself that I shall reveal no spoilers in this review. NONE. Mua ha ha. Aren’t I a good leetle blogger? XD

I loved how Clary’s character began to exploring her dark side in this book, whilst keeping up her reputation as the good girl. Well played. I also saw Simon in a new light in this book, I really enjoyed reading in his character. During the previous three novels, I was not the hugest Simon fan. I found him whiny, annoying, and constantly in the way. City of Fallen Angels really opened my mind, and my heart, to he  and his quirky little thoughts. I also really enjoyed seeing Jace’s vulnerable side; he is a walking definition for the statement “the higher you rise the harder you fall.”

Now, all  you need to know, is that this is a definite must-read. Well worth the long wait!

Quick Shpeal:

“City of Fallen Angels takes place two months after the events of City of Glass. In it, a mysterious someone’s killing the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle and displaying their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to provoke hostility between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, leaving tensions running high in the city and disrupting Clary’s plan to lead as normal a life as she can — training to be a Shadowhunter, and pursuing her relationship with Jace. As Jace and Clary delve into the issue of the murdered Shadowhunters, they discover a mystery that has deeply personal consequences for them — consequences that may strengthen their relationship, or rip it apart forever.

Meanwhile, internecine warfare among vampires is tearing the Downworld community apart, and only Simon — the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side — can decide the outcome; too bad he wants nothing to do with Downworld politics. Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.”
